Since I was young, my dream was to move to New Orleans and start a Jazz band. When I moved here what I got was so much more, a welcoming music community, endless advice and wisdom from fellow musicians, and to be in a band with people who I now consider some of my closest friends. Speaking of, this album couldn't have been done without the dedication of my fellow bandmates, and to them all, I am so grateful.

I grew up listening to not just the late greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Bessie Smith, but also living artists like Meschiya Lake, Germaine Bazzle, and Doreen Ketchens who are only some of the local women in music who inspired me to pursue my own path.

I have so much respect for this music and feel privileged to play it. It’s imperative to me to always honor its historical significance and remember what this music meant to the people who were creating it at the time.

I love this ENTIRE album!!! How to chose a favourite (Well Read Baby?!) Keenan's album is a tour de force of songs that were written now, but he's so totally internalized the style that they sound like they are from another century! The musicianship, arrangements, and the voice of Laura Windley are great. This is my fave vocal showing from Laura, too! (and she has lots of great records) Can't recommend this highly enough Alex P
